About the event

We are excited to offer a day of professional learning for the many important paraprofessionals that work tirelessly for students in our schools. SIEC Solutions Specialist, DeAnne Taggart, will guide participants through a half-day of relevant and timely information that is practical and useful. Participants will:

  • Review basics of professionalism and modeling appropriate behavior, speech, and educational processes for students.

  • Learn practices in collaborating with colleagues, specifically other paraprofessionals and classroom teachers.

  • Learn specific strategies and instruction for teaching reading comprehension in small groups, especially for struggling students.

  • Explore what it means to have a growth mindset and how to contribute to this type of classroom culture.

Presenter: DeAnne Taggart

DeAnne Taggart is the Solutions Specialist at the Southern Indiana Education Center and has 30+ years of experience in K-12 education, including 21 years of classroom experience, two years as a Director of Curriculum & Technology and six years as a Director of Professional Learning. She is a graduate of Indiana University and Indiana Wesleyan University and is currently enrolled at Ball State University to pursue her doctorate in educational studies with a focus on educational technology. She is a curriculum development trainer, an instructional leader, and continues to consistently focus on the needs of educators at all levels. 


DeAnne’s professional mission is to provide high-quality, relevant learning to all educators that inspires, empowers, and enriches, and as a result, reaches all students. Her personal interests include pursuing continual home improvement projects as well as the mountain of good books on her must-read list.
