About the event

Audience: Building Administrators, District Leaders, Instructional Coaches, Teacher Leaders who are beginning or deepening their understanding of MTSS. No prior MTSS experience is required.

What does it truly mean to provide high-quality instruction for every learner? This half day workshop introduces the foundational principles of a Multi-Tiered System of Supports through the lens of Effective Universal Instruction. Participants will explore what MTSS is — and what it is not — and examine how strong Tier 1 instruction forms the cornerstone of any effective tiered support system.

Through guided discussion and reflection, participants will consider how the core elements of universal instruction apply to their own classrooms and buildings.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

● Define MTSS and articulate its purpose within a school or district context

● Identify the essential characteristics of effective Tier 1 (universal) instruction

● Describe the relationship between high-quality core instruction and student outcomes across all tiers

● Reflect on current instructional practices and identify areas aligned to MTSS principles

● Establish a shared vocabulary and conceptual framework to support ongoing collaboration

A note on this resource:

This session is grounded in the research and frameworks presented in Effective Universal Instruction. Participants are encouraged to obtain a copy of the book to deepen their engagement with the content and to support ongoing learning.
