About the event
Providing a clear, research-based framework for delivering lessons that all students can follow and master, Dr. Anita Archer’s Explicit Instruction is highly effective for K–12 teachers. Her approach emphasizes modeling, guided practice, and active engagement, helping teachers reach diverse learners and close achievement gaps. As Dr. Archer reminds educators, good instruction is good instruction—when teaching is clear, intentional, and well-structured, it benefits every grade level and subject area.
Day One Objectives:
Explain a simple model of learning.
Describe the research supporting explicit instruction.
Describe the central elements of explicit instruction.
Observe a lesson and analyze the instructional practices in relationship to the elements of explicit instruction.
Describe the underlying principles of explicit instruction.
Determine elements of explicit instruction that could be strengthened at their school and classroom.
Join us at the SIEC office for a fantastic five-day workshop series focused on concepts and skills directly from Dr. Archer's Explicit Instruction approach. We are pleased to host Brandy Gentry, literacy coach from Southwest Sullivan Schools, who recently attended Dr. Archer's train-the-trainer sessions and just couldn't keep this powerful information to herself. Brandy has the skills and tools to guide you through five days of learning, discussion, and practical approaches to elevate your instruction and planning. See more details below.
