About the event

This half day session explores why intentional, collaborative transition planning matters and what it looks like in practice. Participants will examine the research base supporting strong transition processes, consider the roles that educators, families, and community partners play, and spend dedicated time exploring the Kindergarten Transitions resources available through the Indiana Learning Lab— a curated collection designed to support Indiana educators in making this critical transition as smooth and successful as possible.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

● Articulate why intentional, collaborative kindergarten transition planning is essential for children's success

● Identify the key elements of an effective transition process, including cross-sector communication, family engagement, and educator collaboration

● Recognize the roles that sending teams, receiving teams, and families each play in a high-quality transition

● Navigate the Kindergarten Transitions collection in the Indiana Learning Lab and identify resources applicable to their own setting

● Leave with a concrete next step for strengthening transition practices in their school, program, or district
