About SIEC
Region 1
The Southern Indiana Education Center (SIEC) empowers educators, students, and community leaders with professional learning and essential services to launch innovative programs and opportunities within our Southwest Indiana Region. One of nine educational service centers in Indiana, we bridge the gap between classrooms and the community, connecting students with real-world experiences that prepare them for success in high-demand careers. We are proud to serve 36 member school districts.

Our Initiatives
"At the SIEC, we are excited about the work we do. Supporting our superintendents, designing and implementing professional development that is on-site and in keeping with the needs of our individual schools and teachers, growing our leadership; these are all things that we keep foremost in our thinking and planning every day. We look to the future of our schools as well, so that we are prepared and ready to meet needs as they arise."
Judy Bueckert, Executive Director
“The professional development that I have attended over the years at SIEC has helped me to become a more informed and effective educator. In addition, the opportunities to network with colleagues through council meetings and networking sessions has been some of the best PD I have ever participated in. I look forward to continuing to learn and grow as an educator through my relationship with SIEC."

"I came home after the first two days of training and told my husband, 'These were the best two days of my life.' He said, 'Thanks!' very sarcastically. But, truly, this approach (Career Advisor Cert.) has the potential to be life-changing for students, teachers, and even communities. It is so simple, with no extra prep for teachers and no cost, to just help students figure out who they are and how they want to contribute to the world. Once they know that, they feel better, act better and have a better school experience and EVERY opportunity in their life gives them more knowledge about themselves and how they can be purposeful."

“I'm impressed by (the SIEC's) dedication to rigorous teaching and learning practices for our students in this area of the state. I have been given the necessary materials and opportunities to grow my understanding of my own curriculum through the activities that I have been involved in creating for the center. I appreciate the opportunity and look forward to many more collaborations.”
