The Falkland Islands are in the south Atlantic off the coast of Argentina. The Falklands are claimed by the United Kingdom and Argentina. There are two main islands, East Falkland and West Falkland. Together they are slightly smaller than Connecticut.

The land is rocky, hilly, mountainous with some boggy pasture plains. There are little of no forest or woodlands. No crops are grown and the natural resources are fish and wildlife. Sheep farming is the main industry. There are approximately 3,000 people living on the islands.

The climate is cloudy, humid, and rain occurring on most days. Strong westerly winds blow all of the time. It snows sometimes but it does not stick or accumulate.
