Southern Indiana has twelve known species of bats. They are
the Eastern Red bat, Rafinesque's Big-eared bat, the Gray bat,
the Silver-haired bat, the Eastern pipistrelle, the Hoary, the Evening bat,
the Big brown, the Little brown, the Eastern Small-footed bat,
the Southeastern bat, and the Indiana bat.
Eleven of these bats are pictured above. (The Southeastern Bat is not
pictured above, but click on its name here to read our report on it.)
Wyandotte Caves are the winter hibernation home of four
of these bats that is known at the present time.
The bat found the most in Wyandotte Caves is the Indiana bat.
