We
are students of Cannelton Elementary. We
invited our grandparents into our
classroom and did several interviews.
They had a lot to tell about the old days
of Cannelton! We researched the years
between 1920-1960 and we learned from
each other and from our elders about
things like the Great Depression and
World War II, along with what kinds of
games our grandparents liked to play when
they were children. We also learned about
what it was like at our school and more!
We wish to thank our grandparents and all
of those who cared enough to teach us
about our town's heritage!

While
working on this project, we realized that
when we study the past and present, we
are learning for the future. "Echoes
of Cannelton" teaches us that we
experience our lives with many of the
same hopes and dreams and challenges and
fears... and yet we experience these in
different ways at times. We enjoyed
hearing these stories from the past and
we hope that you do as well.
